A Passion for the Choral Sound

Chapter 16

The Wedding

Tying the Knot VERY Tightly

A short time later, the wedding proceeded as planned. It took place a few hours before the first night of Chanukah. Our relatives, friends, and the entire congregation were invited. Eight hundred people showed up for the wedding where the bride wore a beautiful yellow evening gown visible to all, and our son, Ron, wore a matching yellow jacket. The wedding was divided into three parts:

1. A one-hour marriage ceremony with Rabbi Ralph Kingsley, Cantors Jerry Klement, Zvi Adler, and Abraham Seif. Also featured was the entire Temple Sinai choir that concluded the service with the joyous and majestic “Halleluyah” of Psalm 150.

2. A one-hour culinary treat of 10,000 hors d’oeuvres which were devoured as quickly as hotcakes. Nobody left hungry. Each guest was fully satiated with appetizers, wine, and dessert.

3. An hour and a half musical program with 15 cantors singing cantorial solos, duets, trios, quartets, and songs of the Chanukah holiday.
